For Shia Muslims, Ashura is the most important event in Islamic history that took place in 680 AD. On the 10th Muharram, Imam Husayn ibn Ali, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (SM) was martyred in Karbala.
Sunni Muslims also consider this month as very sacred as mentioned in the Quran.
